Everyone has the right to request digital accessibility of a website or an element of it. It is also possible to request that information through an alternative methods of accessibility, for example by reading out a digitally inaccessible document, describing the content of a film without an audio description, etc. The request should include the identity of the person making the request, an indication of which website is concerned and contact data. If the requesting person indicates a need to receive information via an alternative methods of access, they should also specify how the information can be presented in a way that is convenient for them.

The public entity should comply with the request without delay within 7 days from the request.  If it is not possible to comply with this time limit, the public body shall inform the requesting party without delay when the fulfilment of the request will be possible, but this time limit shall not be longer than 2 months from the date of the request. Where digital accessibility is not possible, the public body may propose an alternative methods of accessing the information.

Where a public body refuses to provide accessibility or an alternative methods of accessing the information, the requester may lodge a complaint against such action. After all possibilities have been exhausted, a complaint can also be sent to the Commissioner for Human Rights.

Contact for people with disabilities

The interested parties of the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Warsaw may use the help of a sign language interpreter or a guide-interpreter when dealing with matters in the office.

An authorized person who intends to use the services of an interpreter is obliged to report this fact to the office at least 3 working days before the planned event (i.e. the planned visit to the office), except in emergencies.

The notification should also include information on the preferred method of communication (PJM, SJM, SKOGN) and a brief description of the matter the meeting will concern.

The service of an interpreter for disabled people, within the meaning of the Act of 27 August 1997 on vocational and social rehabilitation and employment of disabled people (Journal of Laws of 1997, No. 123, item 776) is free of charge.

Architectural accessibility

The headquarters Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection is located at No. 3 Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 r., 02-362 Warsaw.

The building is located in the city centre in the Ochota district, between Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 r. and Białobrzeska streets. The headquarters of the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection can be reached by public transport, buses No. 136, 154, 167, 172, 186, 208, 414, 521 and trams No. 1, 7, 9, 14, 15, 25 and should get off at the “Bitwy Warszawskiej” stop.

The main entrance to the headquarters of the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection is located at 1920 Bitwy Warszawskiej Street. Upon notification it is possible to enter the location through the gate from Białobrzeska Street. In front of the main entrance to the building are public parking spaces for vehicles.

The main entrance to the building of the Main Inspectorate of Environmental Protection is not adapted for people in wheelchairs.

There is a security desk on the left site from the entrance. Each Visitor has to be registered in the entry/exit book. Visitors must be escorted to the meeting place by the person with whom they had an appointment.

It is possible to enter the GIOŚ building with an assistance dog or a guide dog. The building does not have an induction loop or sound and guidance devices for blind and visually impaired persons. The corridors and lifts are adapted for disabled people (the buttons in the lifts are described in Braille the buttons in the lifts are described in Braille). The lifts have a hands-free system which informs about the position of the lift and its stop on a particular floor.

The building is protected 24 hours a day.

The headquarters of the Department of Environmental Monitoring of the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection is located at 92 Jerozolimskie Avenue, 00-807 Warsaw (12th floor).

Three steps to the entrance, with a ramp for wheelchairs on the left. The reception desk is located on the left site from the entrance. Further passage is secured with gates.

There are four lifts in the building behind the gates to enable accessing for disabled people.

There are toilets for disabled people in the building. The corridors are 160 cm wide and the walls, doors and room numbers are in contrasting colours. There is no voice information or induction loops in the building.

There are designated parking spaces for the disabled people in front of the building.

There is no Braille signage in the building, no contrasting signage or signage in enlarged print for the blind and partially sighted.
